Universal Sanitation

Practicing Universal Sanitation in the salon is a must- and means keeping the entire salon clean, disinfected and sanitary.

Sanitation/Sanitize
greatly reduces the number of pathogens on a surface.

Pathogens are bacteria, viruses, fungi, germs

Proper sanitation is performed with soap & water.

Disinfection
completely destroys all pathogens on a hard surface (except spores).

Proper disinfection is performed by completely submerging a sanitized implement/tool into EPA registered, hospital-grade disinfectant for 10 minutes.

This is the process used here at The Matrix Nail Lab to disinfect our metal implements.

All of our files, foot files, and buffers are disposed of after each use.
Our pedicure tubs contain plastic liners that are disposed of after each use.
This process eliminates the chance of cross contamination and ensures your safety.

We uphold and support the statement of beliefs of the International Nail Technicians Association:

*We believe nail technicians must be regulated by appropriate government agencies to protect consumers.

*We believe in mandated continuing education requirements for license renewal through supplementary educational programs including the Internet, networking, trade shows, trade publications, association functions and competitions.

*We believe it is the responsibility of all nail technicians to be knowledgeable in all facets of the profession.

*
We believe nail technicians should be knowledgeable of current regulations and legislation related to licensure.

*We believe nail technicians should be aware of the latest trends in fashion, beauty and, especially, nail technology.

*We believe all nail technicians should meet all licensure renewal deadlines.

*We believe that in states or countries where licensing is not required, nail technicians must have a level of training as established by the industry to ensure consumer safety.

*
We believe original licenses should be posted in a visible location at the nail technicians' workstation.

*We believe licenses, as provided by the regulatory agency, should include a current photo of the technician.

*We believe nail technicians' education at the beauty school level must include theory and practical examination in all aspects of nail care including personal hygiene, professional ethics, cleanliness, disinfection, infection control and client protection practices, bacteriology, disorders and diseases, occupational safety standards, chemistry, technical application of artificial enhancement products, anatomy and physiology, business management.

*We believe students should seek a supervised internship program in a licensed salon for a minimum of 3 months after basic education requirements in school are met.

*We believe nail technicians should be required to acquire a minimum of 12 hours of advanced education each year on topics including safety and disinfection practices, technical skills, business management skills, personal advancement and motivational courses.

*We believe nail technicians should find mentors and mentor new technicians to ensure a higher level of personal growth within the industry.

*We believe clients deserve an introduction and professional disclosure on a first time visit to the nail technician.

*We believe consultation with clients should include a discussion of their expectations; a detailed explanation of service alternatives including obligation of clients for maintenance, reasonable expectations of the service and its cost.

*We believe it is vital to disclose client protection practices being observed in the salon including clean hands, clean towels, disinfected implements, clean files or drill bits, products and implements that are proven to be safe for salon use.

*We believe nail technicians must disclose professional fees, as well as policies regarding cancellation of appointments and arrangements for payment, prior to the initial appointment.

*We believe nail technicians must maintain and keep confidential all client information.

*We believe nail technicians should not make or advertise claims that are misleading or untrue.

*We believe nail technicians should always maintain their integrity and awareness in all marketing and advertising claims.

*We believe nail technicians must not compromise the professionalism of the industry in any manner.

*We believe nail technicians must, above all, respect the clients they serve, in every way.
